Jimmy Buffett is a well-accomplished singer-songwriter, author, and businessman. He was born in Mississippi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1996 with a degree in history. He started his music career at the young age of 14 as a country artist in 1960. Ten years later, he recorded his first album, Down to Earth. By this time, he has matured as a musician and his music has evolved to a country genre infused with folk rock. In 1971 he moved to Key West with fellow country artist, Jerry Jeff Walker, where he reinvented himself to his would-be signature image – an easy-going beach-bum persona.
