Dr. Dre was part of the hip-hop group NWA. They revolutionized the hip-hop scene with their unique brand of aggressive rapping and formed a sub-genre that we now call Gangsta Rap. The group’s first album, Straight Outta Compton, is certified double Platinum. After the group disbanded in the wake of the 1990s, Dr. Dre, along with Suge Knight, created the record label Death Row Records and subsequently released his first solo album The Chronic. It gained much commercial success and was certified Platinum. He eventually left the record label and founded Aftermath Records. This record label produced albums for the likes of Eminem and Mary J. Blige.

Dr. Dre’s earned wealth isn’t solely due to his music career. He has several other investments, which include Beats by Dr. Dre, a headphone manufacturing company. In 2014, tech giant Apple, reportedly acquired Beats by Dr. Dre for $3 billion. As of recent times, Dr. Dre has an approximate net worth of $800 million.
