Herb Alpert is a music executive and a trumpeter. He was born into a family of talented musicians. He picked up the trumpet at the young age of 8. In 1960, he started his music record journey as a singer under the name of Dore Alpert. Eventually, he released Tell It To The Birds under the record label he co-founded, Carnival Records which would later be known as A&M records. To his credit, his music career boasts of 14 certified platinum albums and nine Grammy Awards.
A&M Records is Alpert and Jerry Moss’s lucrative record label. They produced records for several iconic musicians such as Ting, Joe Cocker, The Carpenters, and Janet Jackson, among others. In 2012, Barack and Michel Obama presented the National Medal of Arts to Alpert for his lifetime achievements in the field of music.
